COTILLO

COTILLO, is Located on the northwest coast this fishing village has some of the prettiest beaches in the north and two village harbours, the old and the new.
To the left of the village are the long magnificent sandy beaches so loved by surfers, and to the right is the endless stretch of sandy coves and lagoons.

Just before the long beach you can see the little fortress “El Fortaleza del Toston,” built in 1797 to warn of pirate attacks; nowadays it holds exhibitions for local artists. On the lagoon road you can visit the lighthouse soon to be opened as a museum.

El Cotillo was once the seat of the Guanche tribal chiefs and has remained fairly undeveloped, there are some very good restaurants often serving fresh fish, many with wonderful views.
